Tony Santangelo's published rant (letter to the editor) in The Butner-Creedmoor News was full of a lot of "stuff".

This is the letter a very good friend of mine submitted for publication to The Butner-Creedmoor News in response.

March 31, 2014

To the Editor:

Would like to make a few brief observations on Mr. Santangelo’s “Letter to the Editor” (March 27, 2014):

1)    Mr. Santangelo has a remarkable capacity in his letter to confuse fact with fiction.

2)    Attempting to follow the logic of Mr. Santangelo’s statements is almost as intriguing as following a late-night drunk driver up Hwy 56 – as he swerves from ditch-to-ditch, all over the road – headed for an uncertain destination.

3)    The belated timing of Mr. Santangelo’s remarks on the WWTP reminds one of the “courageous warrior” who arrives on the field of battle – long after the fight is over – and begins attacking the wounded.

4)    The folks on Hester Road and Cannady’s Mill Road would all probably support the construction of a sewer plant in Mr. Sangtangelo’s backyard – without making a “stink”.

Lastly, at the most recent election, the taxpaying citizens of Creedmoor voted strongly against Candidate Santangelo becoming their voice within the Community of Creedmoor.

Tony, perhaps you should take better note of your fellow citizens’ very wise judgment.

Happy New? Year!!

If you live in Southern Granville County 2014 is starting to look like 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007. The Mayor and some Creedmoor Commissioners are up to the same antics as usual.  Move the goalposts and obfuscate while delaying, delaying, delaying the negotiations with SGWASA - playing the victim while being the biggest bully on the block!

Oh well, guess this blog won’t be laid to rest anytime in the near future!

I will try to keep you informed about new developments on the Creedmoor Sewage Scene.  Thanks for all the reader support over the past 6 months.

Just tracking the interactions among the 5 Creedmoor City Commissioners should make an entertaining – and perhaps, embarrassing reality TV show for the citizens of Granville County!!

Stay Tuned!!

Below are comments made at the Granville County Commissioners’ Meeting.

Statement to the Granville County Commissioners
January 21, 2014

A sharply divided Creedmoor Commission is seeking to substantially expand its authority in the southern part of Granville County. This effort to gain additional control over County residents is neither reasonable nor prudent for three reasons.

First.  The City of Creedmoor’s Commissioners have for almost a decade thumbed their noses at the rest of the County in its negotiations with SGWASA. Why would anyone in the County consider giving more influence to a governing body blinded by ambition and self-interest, to the detriment of its own citizens and all residents of Granville County?  Citizens of Creedmoor now pay among the highest water/sewer and tax rates in the area, in the State – a record of achievement that should not be extended to include more Granville County residents!

According to Creedmoor’s Mayor, Darryl Moss, Creedmoor’s water and sewer overcharges are costing the Granville County School System, an extra, unnecessary $140,000 a year.  An overcharge that penalizes all Granville County taxpayers – and our children.

Second.  The City of Creedmoor Commissioners have not earned the trust of their own citizens, as the recent election clearly indicates – two incumbent commissioners were ousted.  If the Citizens of Creedmoor do not trust the recent direction of their Commissioners, let’s listen to their voice!!

This public vote of “no confidence” by the citizens of Creedmoor would indicate that any proposed extension of authority or control at this time would be unreasonable and imprudent.

Third.  City of Creedmoor Commissioners have regularly refused to operate in an open, transparent manner.  It is difficult to understand the need for such “secrecy” in the City of Creedmoor governance.  Undercover often smacks of “underhanded” in city affairs.  The City Commissioners have consistently refused to have any dialogue with surrounding County residents, particularly regarding the totally unnecessary, environmentally destructive and financially insane WWTP, and have resolutely acted against the best interests of the County and other area municipalities.

Unbridled ambition by Creedmoor’s leadership has created an atmosphere of acrimony and antagonism. Rather than seeking to expand their ambitions, perhaps the City of Creedmoor Commissioners should be working to build their credibility with the public.  Until that time, it is up to you, the County Commissioners, to protect all County residents from this overreaching encroachment.

Respectfully submitted,

Jean B. Blaine

Granville County Citizen

And by the way, nothing has changed - it may be worse!

Another year, another $600 in overcharges on the water and sewer bills of the citizens of Creedmoor.  Another Christmas with fewer packages under the tree!

Picture
Thanks to the water and sewer rate-setters of Creedmoor, The Mayor and his Elves!  Perhaps they believe it is more blessed to receive than give?

Well, maybe next year…well maybe wishful thinking…the gift that keeps on giving?

Add it to the reasons…

Harry Coleman, distinguished former editor of The Butner-Creedmoor News, was certainly an excellent judge of character and time has proven he did know his men and understand what drove them – and it was not the wealth of the citizens of Creedmoor!!

Planning Board Member Opposes Plant!

Hi Jean

I'm totally against the Water Treatment Plant.... It is now never going to happen so now stop your obnoxious website and Facebook page. Your signs are polluting our streets.  This fight is over now you need to get over it! It’s sad that the Butner Creedmoor news has to publish you sad half page ad  making a mockery of Thanksgiving. Your turning good work into sour grapes!  Where I live in Creedmoor nothing stinks and I love my home.

Thanks,

Ed Gleason, VP and CTO
Frontline Communications
102 North Main Street
Creedmoor, NC  7522

Ed is a member of Creedmoor's Planning Board.

Hi Ed

There are always armchair critics and Monday morning quarterbacks!  Thanks for your belated support.

But Ed, now that you are publically committed to help lead the fight here are the most important points:

There has been NO public announcement by the City of Creedmoor that the Tar River Waste Money Treatment Plant is off the table and will not be built or pursued by the city.

At a recent Commissioners’ meeting, Creedmoor said there was “no incentive” to join SGWASA. Does the city of Creedmoor need more incentive to do the right thing by the citizens of Creedmoor and Granville County?!

Creedmoor Citizens still are paying $600 a year in overcharges; the schools are still paying $140,000 a year in overcharges for water and sewer to the City of Creedmoor.

All the pieces necessary to pursue the plant are still in play. I’m glad for you that the stench emanating from Creedmoor misses your home, but it’s still quite strong out in the county and especially up Hester Road.

Thanks,

Jean Blaine

How much do The Mayor and The Commissioners of Creedmoor overcharge Granville County Schools for water and sewer?

$140,000 a year
according to Mayor Moss!

The money meter is still gushing!

Who benefits? Not our children!

It’s now been 7 years of stubborn wastefulness by
The Mayor and The Commissioners.

I have never put up a sign in Creedmoor or anywhere in Granville County.
This all started with a letter from Danny Eudy, that was dated before the violation that he incorrectly claimed I committed occurred.(See below The Intimidators, 10-23-13 for full text of his letter.)
In Mr Frangos' response to my attorney, Mr. Frangos confirms
1) The "city" of Creedmoor did receive my letter saying I had never put up a sign of any type in Creedmoor
2) The "city" of Creedmoor acted based on their distaste for my ads and my website;
3) which confirms the "city" of Creedmoor acted against my constitutional rights to free speech.
4) In Creedmoor the citizens right to free speech is decided not by The Constitution but by The Mayor, The 'Ommissioners and Danny Eudy, who is still nowhere to be seen!

Picture
I would certainly hope that folks continue to place signs and speak up. When government does not act in the best interests of its citizens, the citizens should speak up and be heard! Loud and Clear - "Something Stinks in Creedmoor!"  Until the Mayor and The 'Ommissioners start listening...

Where's Eudy?!  Seems no one can find Sign Officer Danny Eudy. Please, report any sighting!

As you will note in the email exchange between The Mayor and my attorney, Mr. Raxter with Williams Mullen, it continues to be almost impossible to deliver a message to the "City" of Creedmoor.  They refuse to listen, accept or respond.
