August 9, 2013 Update
Adding an update to this page. Thought everyone might like to see the document with the offer from SGWASA to Creedmoor, made one year ago. Still on the table while Creedmoor desparately negotiates, not to join SGWASA but to build its very own sewage plant!
One very interesting thing, The Mayor says joining SGWASA will save a Creedmoor citizen $300 a year on water and sewer. SGWASA says $500.
What's the hold up on joining SGWASA? Creedmoor is holding up its own citizens!

Financial Irresponsibility
How much will building the new sewage plant cost the average household on the sewer and water bill in Creedmoor?
+ $54 a month.
What if Creedmoor joins the already established and functioning Southern Granville Water and Sewer Authority (SGWASA)?
- $25 a month.
It is going to cost each household in Creedmoor $1000 a year for Creedmoor not to join SGWASA. This is just on the sewer and water bills.
Seems like a no-brainer!
Then you get to taxes. The tax rates paid by the Citizens of Creedmoor are already the highest tax rates in the county AND our four county area (Granville, Warren, Vance and Person). This project, if built, almost assures that Creedmoor taxes will soar even higher.
What will building the plant do to Creedmoor taxes?? Have you heard the unreasonable men on the City Commission talking about that?!
The estimated cost of the Waste Water Treatment Plant is $27.4 million (November, 2012), which will be funded by a loan from USDA at 3.5%, for a term of 40 years. The cost to provide Creedmoor citizens with water/sewer will double from $1.3 million per year to $2.6 million per year, if this new plant is built.
A loan of $27.4 million at 3.5% ends up costing the folks of Creedmoor $51 million, including interest over 40 years.
Principal: $27.4 million
Interest over 40 years: $23,549,660
Total Repaid: $50,949,600
If your Mayor and Commissioners were truly representing the people of Creedmoor, this discussion would have been over on November 6, 2012.*** On that date Creedmoor received a $13.5 million offer from SGWASA to purchase Creedmoor's sewage and water infrastructure, beginning the process to become a member of SGWASA.
The Mayor and the Commissioners ignored the offer. Encourage them to accept it.
